Fun Weekend Happenings

This post probably has more than enough pictures, but then again I blog really for my mom to see Lenna, so pictures are good for Grandma! This weekend was a busy fun weekend. Friday we went to the zoo to check out the animals. Lenna I thought looked all grown up in her green sweater. She is looking more and more grown up everyday.
At the zoo we went and saw the bears. I rarely go see the bears, but they were both awake and close to the viewing area so it was fun to see them!I am not really sure if Lenna liked the bears. She definitely could see some of the animals because she is now riding forward facing in her strollers. Maybe she just looks scared because her lovely friends were entertaining her so much. However she in all honesty loves being entertained and was giggling while Esther played with her.The last few days Lenna has decided to take naps from like 3-6pm so it has given us an extra hour in the evening to take her out and about. Friday night we took advantage of her late nap to go out to eat. It has been a long time since we have been able to go out to eat and sit down. Lenna enjoyed playing with her toys and sitting in a high chair like a big girl. The next day we went up to Snohomish county to go pumpkin picking! We picked a certain farm because they had a pumpkin cannon. The cannon was definitely worth it! It was also fun to go pick out the pumpkins from the field something I had never done. We had a great time.
Lenna was basically distracted by all the orange things on the ground and we had a hard time having her look at the camera.A really hard time she just wanted to look at the strange orange things. We tried to get her height but she was to distracted by the rocks under her feet to stand up straight. She kept wanting to bounce up and down. Please note she is over 2 feet tall in real life.So she became almost my height.
We all got a pumpkin! This is the one I picked for myself. We put the kids in the farm animal shot. I just laugh every time I look at this picture because Lenna looks so silly.Dad had Lenna help with the pumpkin cannon. You can see the pumpkin we picked to fly in the video below.

Today Lenna got to wear a new dress. It is 12 month size! Sigh, my little girl really isn't little. I thought she looked adorable, but then I always think she looks adorable. Lenna managed to keep her shoes on the entire time we were at church! Maybe she really will be able to wear shoes!Other than the pictures we enjoyed doing yard work, watching a movie, going to a chili cook off and watching football this weekend. Jared also tried to kill our gopher. We have had gophers for the last 2 years and we can't seem to get rid of them. Maybe one day. Hope everyone had just as fun of weekends and we hope everyone has a great week!!!

New Big Girl Thing - Shopping while sitting in the cart

Lenna got to do a new big girl thing today. Recently she has loved sitting up, so I figured she is stable enough to ride in the shopping cart. I found her shopping cart cover washed it and waited for the day we needed to go to a store. Yesterday I wanted to go to Costco to compare some diaper prices and pick up a few things, so with that yesterday Lenna go her first cart experience. Only two words can sum up how she felt. Loved it! You can't really tell this from the pictures that she loved it, but every single person she saw in the store she gave a huge grin to.

I remember when Lenna was 6 weeks old and seeing her friends Lauren and Joel all rolling around and asking their moms when Lenna would be able to sit in the grocery cart. I yearned for this day. I really don't like hauling Lenna in her car seat or the Bjorn while shopping. Thus yesterday was a big day for me. So at Costco I bought myself some flowers. I also bought Halloween candy. Does this mean I bought myself chocolate and flowers? I guess so. Oh well I love my flower arrangements and I guess that is what matters. Jared asked who sent me flowers...so I must have arranged them how a florist might.Remember my description of Jared babysitting and working a post or two ago. Well since he had strep he stayed home on Tuesday and while I was taking a shower his multi tasking skills came out again. Not as good as the first time but still funny!
Yay for adventures and being able to get out of the house for more then a walk again. I even ran my 3 miles yesterday and it felt great! I love not being sick!

Change

So if you are keeping up with Lenna's statistics you will remember that she has a large head (just like her dad). This isn't a problem since she is big for her age so it is all well proportioned. The only down side is now that it has gotten cooler and when we take her on walks I feel the need for her to be warm and I have been having a hard time getting hats to stay on her head. However yesterday I had the light bulb go off and I remembered that my old coworker and friend Jeannette had made Lenna a very cute hat and mittens for her before she was born. After a few minutes of searching with a flash light last night because Lenna was asleep I was successful in finding these awesome accessories. This morning I tried them on Lenna and they fit perfectly! Yay! No more trying to get a hat that is really to small onto Lenna's head for her walk. I also think they are perfect colors for fall!In news of what is going on with us. I am now totally on the up swing and I am feeling around 95% healthy. The test results came back from the doctor and confirmed I had strep. Sadly I gave this to Jared. But he is on antibiotics now too, and he should be on the up swing today or tomorrow. Yay for drugs! The hardest parts about being sick was the normal feeling awful, but I also lost my voice and let me tell you I love to talk...a lot...and having no voice is the most painful thing ever when you want to say something!

Also this week, with getting some bigger sized clothing for Lenna, I decided it was time to start packing away some of her 6-9month stuff. I don't know how it is for other moms but changing her clothing is so emotionally difficult for me. I packed away socks that were so tiny but I remember her wearing them, and hats that were super tiny but she could wear those too. But it is good she is growing and it is just a part of life. Good thing we had left over vacuum seal bags from shrinking the love sac so that Lenna's clothes that don't fit anymore don't over take my storage shed!

Lenna is really loving to move. She either wants to be on the floor rolling around or sitting up playing with things. Her exersaucer is starting to be not as popular unless she wants to sit and chew on things. (She has been chewing a lot recently again, but still no teeth). Lenna really likes to play with balls and she loves to listen to her fish Dory. The videos aren't the best but it is hard to film and play at the same time.

I found my witch costume and it fits! Hooray! My hard work for 100 yards of double ruffle ribbon hasn't gone to waste. However I would like to do something more exciting with my hat, but I don't have any inspiration to do something new...maybe I will google for some cute ideas. My sister in law always does awesome things with her hat (I will admit; I am often jealous of your witchy creativity Meg). I have found though I am awful with patterns if I can look at something and figure out how to do it in my head I can do it, but give me a pattern to cut things out and things never turn out.

Other than the things mentioned I am just playing catch up on life from last week and trying to get the house back in order and things back into the normal routine. Happy Tuesday everyone!

What happens when you are sick

This week has been a very long week for all of us. Jared was super busy at work with being paged all night and day and finishing up a big project, and I got an awful cold which may or may not be strep we are still waiting for the results. Anyway so you may wonder what happens to the Lundells on weeks like this; well honestly, not much. Getting the laundry done and making it alive to bed time seems like an accomplishment to me this week. So I didn't take many pictures this week, oh well maybe I will do better next week.

Lenna has gotten a form of cradle cap yet again. I am not sure if we just don't scrub her head enough or what not but I feel like I am always battling her scalp. Well with lotion in her hair it makes it easy to style. I did two styles the Mohawk and then I parted her hair. I didn't take any pictures of the later but the Mohawk was super awesome.
We also took a lot of short walks because Lenna is used to getting out of the house at least once a day. I think she is really starting to like sitting in the stroller this way. She doesn't even need her binky on walks anymore.
If you are curious how life was managed at our house while I was too sick to function; in short it was interesting. There was one moment that was great, but sadly enough I was not well enough to think about taking a picture but I drew a sketch below. Jared was kind enough to come home early Wednesday and Thursday but on Friday I was too sick to do anything. So he stayed home and took me to the doctor. Lenna loved going to the doctor. Probably because there was people there to tell her she looked cute and smile at her. She is such a ham. Anyway as I walked into Lenna's room I see Jared on the floor with Lenna. Lenna loves to sit but she hasn't figured out how to be stable 100% of the time so she needs a few supports here and there. So Jared being the smart guy of the house had stuck his left leg straight out bent his right leg to form an easy V for Lenna to be secured in. Then he set his laptop on the other side so he was multi-tasking! Working and babysitting Lenna!!! I give it 5 stars for creativity. I wish I had taken a picture....Running has been non existent this week. Hopefully I will get better soon so we can really start to train for the 5K we are running on Thanksgiving. But thankfully Lenna has done really well she has picked up a minor cough but is happier then normal and mastering her skill at picking things up. Since I lost my voice for two days she keeps staring at me but every time I smile at her she smiles back and that is a really great feeling!

Also while being sick I couldn't sleep very well, and thus I had a lot of down time to think about random things. So here is my soap box. I thought about the health reform debate. I am not normally political at all but honestly I agree that the whole health thing of the US needs changing but I am tired of hearing people say that everyone deserves health benefits. Most of these people want to have health benefits that exist now, but there is no way possible that the government could afford this type of health insurance. If the masses want to move to a Canadian type health reform them I guess we live in a democracy and that is what is to happen, but that means no one that has cancer or anything life threatening can be treated. I do however think that it would be nice to have prices posted for services and not have to play the guessing game of how much is this health bill going to be. It would also be nice to not have such a huge difference between what you pay with health insurance and with out. For example I had a pregnancy test last year when we found out we were going to have Lenna. If I had not had health insurance it would have cost me 40 bucks but with insurance it only cost 5 bucks. That is crazy ridiculous. It would also be nice to teach people how to take care of themselves. I feel like with the government and all the bail outs no one has the guts to say oh wait how are we going to pay for this....we are leaving a huge debt that will have to be repaid by ourselves and our children....I actually will be impressed with who ever finally says enough is enough and raises taxes to get our debt under control. Okay I am off my soap box....

In happy notes witches is coming up! I am way excited. This just means I need to find my witch costume. Lenna and I will be traveling a lot in the next few months...gotta use up all our free airline tickets before they expire. Hooray for visiting family!
