Ned and Ted

These are our pink flamingos Ned and Ted. If you are wondering Ned is the shorter neck one and Ted is the taller one. It took me a long LONG time to convince Jared that we HAD to have them. I just think life is incomplete for me not to have a pair of pink flamingos in my yard. Maybe if I am lucky I will get another pair so I will have a whole flock in my next house. But they were looking sad, and so they just got a fresh coat of spray paint and they pinked up nicely!
Today was beautiful and sunny, but we didn't seize the day for sun. Hopefully tomorrow. Today was hard work shopping and hard work yard work. I found these cute pots at the dollar store. I put my left over petunias in them. It is great they are cute, small, and if we move this summer I can take my flowers with me! Oh and I am sporting my new capris. I have lost like 10lbs pre baby weight, and so I treated myself to this part of shorts for 7 bucks. I love TJ Max.Our other cool deal of the day was at Safeway. We bought some cleaners, 4 boxes of cereal, tomatoes, and beans. My total was $2.09 (96%) savings! Plus I left with 7 dollars off my next purchase coupons. Woot! The only problem is now I have 6 boxes (I bought some cereal yesterday too) of corn flakes at my house, and we won't eat that much. So if anyone wants a box or two of corn flakes for cooking or just eating let me know and I will get them to you. Otherwise they are headed to the food bank.

This morning while I was printing off coupons to make money grocery shopping, Lenna decided to explore and take apart the house. She enjoyed taking apart cupcake liners. Notice her necklaces. She puts them on herself. She likes being girly.
These other pictures are just to show off how silly and cute she looks in her outfit today. She is one spoiled girl in clothes. I can count on probably one hand maybe two the different outfits I have bought Lenna. So luckily all her family has great taste so she can look super cute. She also likes to share! See she is sharing her rock she found in the front yard.
She is sporting her binky because she started to throw a tantrum at the grocery store and I wanted to not have to deal with it. One day soon the binky is getting kicked to the curb. But right now I still love it.Happy sunny Friday friends!

Just a walk

Today is was nice weather. Hooray! So we headed out to take a walk. Yes, I walked in my flip flops (they have arches so they are fancy flip flops that have walked all over Yosemite, and other crazy places in so they are equipped for a simple walk in the neighborhood).Anyway we do this 1.5ish mile walk all the time. It is to a nearby park and back. But this time wow it was no simple-normal walk. The events go as follows:

* We got whistled at by a bunch of guys. I am not sure if I should think they were whistling at Lenna (since she is adorable), but who whistles at a 1 year old? Or if they were whistling at me, but then who whistles at a lady pushing a stroller for goodness sakes?

* 200ft later we are walking under the freeway and a creepy homeless dude is standing next to the fence. On the wrong side of the fence. Just staring. CREEPY! Anyway I decided we would keep walking instead of turning around. I figured if something went wrong we would mad dash it to the fire station that was only 100 ft ahead. But luckily he just stared and we just walked.

* Then as we were walking up the hill a biker started to come down the side walk. Granted I don't mind sharing the side walk but when the bike lane is literally 1 foot to the right of you, just get in the bike lane!

* 300ft later we make it to a corner by a house that is pretty run down. There was like 10 cats walking around. I think there must be a cat lady near by!

*We continue walking and make it to the park. YAY! As we walk around we see a short Asian lady walking with a golf club behind her back. We also see a roller bladder (that wasn't so odd), but we pass two people speaking some eastern European language which is a little different. Follow that by 3 kids torturing a little dog by having it chase things, but it was on a leash so every time it got to far it would literally flip upside down from being yanked.

At this point it was too much for me, and I am totally ready to go home though I was going to let Lenna slide down the slide a few times. Luckily on our way home it was pretty uneventful. We saw a friend of ours biking in the bike lane with his kids, but that is always fun and not stressful to see friends.

We made it home in one piece I guess that is the important part.
The other cool news is Lenna is really digging the walking thing. But she is not perfect at it. She biffed it the other day on the patio. Apparently Lenna and cement don't always get along.
But she doesn't really seem to mind, she is just happy to play. Speaking of playing we pulled out a bag that was perfect for the beach and came across some keys for Lenna that I totally forgot about. Score on new toys!
Happy Hump Day!

Swinging in the Sun Shine

Yesterday was another beautiful sunny day. We went to the park right by our house. We swung on swings and played on the soccer field.
Lenna really loved running around on the huge field.
She also really loved chasing her ball around and trying to pick it up. She biffed it a lot which I thought was silly but she had so much fun!

She is also really into sitting on her chairs. I will find her like this a lot, and in her room sitting on her recliner. She is getting so big.Today you can see in the background is rainy. I already miss the sun and look forward to its return.

Sunny Mother's Day Weekend

The sun has come back out making our home-bound situation hard to handle. But luckily Lenna's fever broke on Friday, so we could go out and about a little bit this weekend. The excitement on Friday was that we walked around Greenlake with some great buddies of ours, and spotted turtles on our adventure. Lots of turtles! On Friday night I did a lot of weeding and I mowed the lawn. You know you have a kid or have gotten old when on Friday night instead of thinking sweet time for a date; you are thinking sweet time to get some stuff done! The motivation to get our yard under control is due to the fact that we are still house hunting. Note we haven't made an offer on any house, but one of these days we will actually move. Since I don't know that date it is better to just be prepared, and have the house/yard in order so the chaos won't be as bad as if I hadn't planned ahead. So here is before I weeded.
And after...yep it is dark. I weeded till the sun went down.
Lenna is getting back to her normal self. Except she has been SUPER whiny. I read an article today about being patient with a toddler and how they are trying to test their boundaries and explore the world. I am learning how to control my temper and deal with the whine. Lenna is learning how to push my buttons!
To help get Lenna less whiny we gave her some oral gel. I hope she is finally teething, but she still has no teeth. That seemed to help some. It also helped to go outside. She ran around in circles on our patio.
Lap, after lap, after lap.
You might notice she also carries things around in both hands while running, and while crawling. She would not let go of this caterpillar that has broken in two due to rust. It was a very prized possession which caused a tantrum when I took it away so we could go back inside.
Still holding on to the caterpillar.
Peekaboo...where is Lenna?
Dad showing her some stuff in our flower bed.
In addition to enjoying the sun in our backyard we headed to Alki for a walk. Lenna was off and on okay about it.
She was especially okay when we bribed her with snacks in her stroller.
Awwwww Seattle is great!
Especially seeing it from West Seattle. You get to see sail boats, ferries, and the Seattle skyline. Also check out the water is super blue and so is the sky! Bonus!Seattle is nice but honestly being a mom is better.
Happy Mother's day!
